As a result of the introduction of the Mater Public Health Services Act 2008, which came into effect on 25th November 2008, health service district for the three Mater public hospitals (Mater Adult Hospital, Mater Children's Hospital and Mater Mothers' Hospital) changed from "MTR Mater Public Hospitals" to the physical location of the hospitals, "MST Metro South" on 1st July 2009.
