Previously, Queensland's Episode of care data element concept related to formal/statistical admissions. The Episode of admitted patient care data element has now been implemented for formal/statistical admissions. This new Episode of care data element concept has a more general definition for use outside of the formal/statistical admission definition which only applies to episode of admitted patient care. With the introduction of the new concepts, Queensland is fully aligned with Australian Institute of Health and Welfare definitions for Episode of admitted patient care and Episode of care.
