Collection and Usage Attributes
An episode of care is regarded as 'assessment only' if a patient was seen for clinical assessment only and no treatment or further intervention was planned by the assessing clinical team.

Code 1 Yes
This code is used when the patient was assessed by a clinical team but received no treatment during an episode. These episodes are usually of short duration, normally less than 3 days.

Code 2 No
This code is used when the patient was assessed and then goes on to receive treatment.

Code 8 Unknown
This code is used when it is unknown whether the patient was seen for assessment only.

Code 9 Not stated/inadequately described
This code is used when it is has not been reported whether the patient was seen for assessment only.
Queensland Hospital Admitted Patient Data Collection:
Hospital service-care type (QHAPDC) must be code 09 Geriatric Evaluation and Management, 10 Psychogeriatric care, 11 Maintenance care, 20 Rehabilitation care or 30 Palliative care.
Must not be null for admitted patient sub-acute and non-acute records.
Must be 1 or 2.
Hospital Based Corporate Information System (HBCIS):
HBCIS uses a Y/N flag and maps in HQI as follows:
Y maps to code 1 Yes
N maps to code 2 No

Queensland Hospital Admitted Patient Data Collection (QHAPDC):
Only code 1 Yes and code 2 No are valid for QHAPDC.
Queensland Hospital Admitted Patient Data Collection (QHAPDC):
This data element no longer needs to be supplied for sub and non-acute separations on or after 1 July 2017.
