Guide for Use
Instructions for the allocation of these codes are contained in "Queensland Health job designations and codes - a guide to using the list of occupations", available from the Health Workforce Planning and Analysis Unit.
Currently the format of the job designation codes allows the grouping of job designations into streams and substreams as well as categories based on the NHDD. There is no guarantee that this feature will be retained in the future.

Comments
Job designations are not the same as position titles. Many position titles have the same job designation. The purpose of the standard job designation is to insulate longitudinal studies and standardised reporting from the frequent cosmetic changes to job titles. The Health Workforce Planning and Analysis Unit maintain a mapping from Job designation codes to both the first and second versions of the ABS Australian Standard Classification of Occupation codes (ASCO).
