Collection and Usage Attributes
Code 10 (Meth)amphetamines (Speed, Base, Ice etc)
This is a broad category for encompassing all types of amphetamines including methamphetamine and dexamphetamine.

Methamphetamine is currently the most common type of illicit amphetamine in Australia. For a more specific breakdown of amphetamine types, use subcategories 110 to 119 instead of using code 10.

Code 119 Other (meth)amphetamine
Includes liquid and pill forms of (meth) amphetamine as well as amphetamine sulphate.

Code 98 Unsure/Not stated
This code should be used where an answer was refused or where the question was not able to be asked prior to completion of assistance because the client was unable to communicate or a person who knows the client was not available.

Code 99 Missing
This code should be used where no attempt has been made to collect/record information from the client.
Queensland Minimum Data Set for Needle and Syringe Programs (QMDS-NSP):
This data element is collected on each occasion of service.

To be collected in the form of a question such as 'What drug are you going to inject?'

If the client is unsure of what drug they are going to inject, ask them what drug they are intending or hoping to inject. If they are still uncertain, record code 98 Unsure/Not stated.

If the client indicates that they are using more than one type of drug, ask them to tell you which drug is more important to them, i.e. 'Which drug would you find more difficult to go without?' If the client can't decide, record the first drug they mentioned.

If using codes 110 to 119, it is recommended that staff are trained to distinguish between the different forms of methamphetamine. Pictorial guides may be useful to assist staff and clients. If the client is unsure of what type of amphetamine they are going to use, use code 10.
Used for service planning and development and epidemiological analysis.
Approved through information management governance 24/12/2015.
