Licenced Private Facilities are also required to provide admitted patient data on a monthly basis to the Chief Health Officer (Section 144 Private Health Facilities Act 1999). Under the National Health Reform Agreement information is supplied on a quarterly basis to the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) for determining the efficient price of health services provided by public hospitals, the National Health Funding Body for funding of public hospital services and the National Health Performance Authority for reporting of performance indicators. Information is supplied on a annual basis to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) under the Health Information Agreement and the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care under the National Healthcare Agreement.
