Verification Rules
Emergency Data Collection (EDC):

Data element is code 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8.
Clinical Costing Data Repository (CCDR):
Must not be null for Emergency Department service event records.

Collection Methods
Where the arrival transport mode has an EEA component, then that transport mode is mapped to its non-EEA equivalent. For example, Ambulance (EEA) will map to Code 1 Ambulance (road ) and Police (EEA) will map to Code 6 Police or prison (correctional services) vehicle.
For national reporting of the Non-admitted patient ED service episode-transport mode (arrival) (NHDD) data element the following mapping occurs:
Codes 1 Ambulance (road), 2 Ambulance (helicopter) and 3 Ambulance (fixed wings) are mapped to code 1 Ambulance, air ambulance or helicopter rescue service.
Codes 4 Community Services, 6 Walked in / public or private transport and 8 Other are mapped to code 8 Other.
Code 5 Police or prison vehicle is mapped to code 2 Police/correctional services vehicle.
