Verification Rules
Queensland Hospital Admitted Patient Data Collection (QHAPDC):
Must not be null for admitted patient records where Episode of admitted patient care-compensable patient status is code 1 (Workers' Compensation (Queensland)).
Collection Methods
Time is record using a 24 hour clock, from 0000 (denoting midnight) to 2359.
Hospital Based Corporate Information System (HBCIS):
Currently HBCIS will not accept 0000 as midnight. A system parameter setting at each site dictates if 2400 can be a valid entry. If an actual event occurs at midnight and the parameter is set to 'Y' then record 2400. If an actual event occurs at midnight and the parameter is set to 'N' record 2359.
Public hospitals that do not use an electronic patient management system will need to complete a Motor and Work Injury Interview Questionnaire and provide this information to the facility that records their data.
Comments
The workers' compensation data elements are required for a patient who is a Queensland worker with a compensable injury or illness who has elected to be treated as a public patient by a doctor nominated by the hospital, and are used to substantiate a hospital's claim for reimbursement for costs of providing treatment to a patient for compensable injuries.
