As a result of the introduction of the Mater Public Health Services Act 2008, which came into effect on 25th November 2008, health service district for the three Mater public hospitals (Mater Adult Hospital, Mater Children's Hospital and Mater Mothers' Hospital) changed from "95 Mater Public Hospitals" to the physical location of the hospitals, "86 Metro South" on 1st July 2009.
