Must not be blank if child is under 15 years of age.
Data element value is code 1 (The emergency presentation is related to a pool immersion incident) if presenting complaint code = 14000 (immersion) or principal diagnosis = T75.1 (Drowning and nonfatal submersion).
Collection Methods
Emergency Data Collection (EDC):
For enterprise Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) sites, where:
Presenting complaint code = 14000 immersion or Principal diagnosis = T75.1 (Drowning and nonfatal submersion)
or Pool-immersion check box is ticked in the Projects box
set Pool-immersion flag to 1, otherwise set to 2
For all other sites, if data exists, set to NULL.
Comments
Note that this data element is only collected for sites using EDIS.
