Guide for Use
Code 01 includes a service provider funded by a state public hospital. The corresponding cost centre in FAMMIS must have a 'Funding Source' code of 'State Funded' and be within the cost centre hierarchy identified as being part of the hospital.
Code 02 includes a service provider funded by state research funds falling within the scope of the Queensland Health Research Management Policy. Examples of activity meeting the criteria of research projects are:
- industry sponsored trials (eg: drugs, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment);
- projects funded by major research funding bodies (eg: NHMRC, ARC);
- projects funded by NGOs (eg: Queensland Cancer Fund) and hospital foundations); and
- projects initiated by Queensland Health staff and supported but not directly funded by Queensland Health, including research for higher degrees.
Funding for research projects must be managed via District operating funds and not General Trust Funds. The corresponding cost centre in FAMMIS must have a 'Funding Source' code of 'State - Research'.
Code 03 includes a service provider funded by a state Trust Fund managed by Queensland Health (eg: General Trust). The corresponding cost centre in FAMMIS must also have a 'Funding Source' code of 'Trust'.
Code 04 includes a service provider funded by state funds other than research, trust or public hospital funding. The corresponding cost centre in FAMMIS must have a 'Funding Source' code of 'State Funded and not be part of the public hospital's cost centre hierarchy (eg: State funded community health or district wide services).
Code 05 includes a service provider funded by the Commonwealth Government. Funding may be provided directly by the Commonwealth Government or via Queensland Health Central Office or via the billing of professional service to the Health Insurance Commission (eg: medical officers with right of private practice arrangements and also non-referred professional services provided in an Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander community and/or clinics). The corresponding cost centre in FAMMIS must have a 'Funding Source' code of 'Commonwealth'.
Code 98 includes a service provider funded by other arrangements not previously prescribed (eg: General Practice or other professional services).
New
Verification Rules
Only one valid funding source code may be recorded.
Collection Methods
Patient administration systems (eg: HBCIS) allow for only one principal source of funding to be recorded.
Comments
This data element will support the reporting of occasions of service funded by hospitals. This definition applies to non-admitted patients and is not intended to apply to community based and funded services.
