Where an admitted patient of the facility receives services at the facility's outpatient clinic, these services should NOT be reported against a non-admitted patient ambulatory occasions of service category.

This data element must be collected in conjunction with Non-admitted patient care - outpatient clinic type code.
Data compiled from service or clinic activity records.
Outpatient Care NMDS the following guides for use also apply:
- Patients participating in group sessions each receive a count of one occasion of service, and these counts are assigned separately.
- Outreach clinic services should be counted at the facility where the patient medical record is held.
- Where a patient receives multidisciplinary care, within one booked appointment, one occasion of service shall be recorded, regardless of the number of providers involved.
- Where patients have more than one booked appointment, each appointment will be counted as one occasion of service. (Example: three booked appointments on a single day will be counted as three OOS).
- The occasion of service count should be attributed to the clinic type associated with the booked appointment.
