Provide a centralised repository of Pap smear results to provide a safety net, backup reminder service, collate screening history information and quality assurance information for laboratories.
Scope
All Queensland women who have Pap smear and related tests performed, with the target group being women aged between 18 - 70 years.

Data sent in electronically and/or by hard copy from Pathology Laboratories which is data entered. Linkages with Electoral Roll, Health Insurance Commission, Cancer and Death Registries.

Operation of the Pap Smear Registry is governed by the Public Health Act 2005. PSR uses an opt-off system for registration i.e. women's results are automatically forwarded to the PSR unless she indicates that they are not to be forwarded.
