Guide for Use
SIMS uses Oracle to capture and report NGO contracts / agreements, rural medical staff training and development, etc. SIMS provides an extract to the FAMMIS / S/4HANA solution to pay NGOs when due.
SIMS tracks NGO contracts / agreements from initial planning to their completion. SIMS supports the planning and operational flow of allocated funding from State and Commonwealth budget sources, into health service organisations, primarily outside of Queensland Health. It allows financial tracking and planning from a budget level, down to detailed project payments. Common uses are management of historical, current and future: budgets, scheduled project payments and paid project payments, project progress payments.
In addition, SIMS supports the management, performance monitoring and reporting of the training and development of those aspiring to a career in rural medicine in Queensland. SIMS tracks potential trainees as early as when they are still in medical school and supports them until they attain their fellowship five to six years post-graduation. There are several Rural Generalist Training Advisors (RGTAs) throughout the state who mentor trainees and record and monitor trainee progress using SIMS. SIMS reminds users, via auto-generated emails, if a task has not been completed in time to ensure trainees are able to progress without any undue delays and to allow trainees to focus on their training.
