SATR is the Healthcare Improvement Unit (HIU) data warehouse that receives, processes and stores data from a range of applications and is utilised to manage the operation of five data collections for which HIU is the Data Custodian. The data collections are:
- Elective Surgery Data Collection (ESDC)
- Emergency Data Collection (EDC)
- Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Data Collection (GIEDC)
- Radiation Therapy Data Collection (RTDC)
- Specialist Outpatient Data Collection (SODC).

Collection and Usage Attributes
To provide a central data repository for a number of Queensland Health datasets. A central data repository permits consistent, statewide reporting to support service improvement, performance management and planning.
Selected Queensland Hospitals.

Included are:
- all patients waiting for elective surgery currently at Queensland Elective Surgery Reporting Hospitals
- all patients removed from elective surgery waiting lists since June 1996 at Queensland Elective Surgery Reporting Hospitals
- all patients waiting for a specialist outpatient appointment currently at Queensland Specialist Outpatient Reporting Hospitals
- all patients removed from specialist outpatient waiting lists since October 2012 at Queensland Specialist Outpatient Reporting Hospitals
- all non-admitted service events from July 2014.
SATR is a Department of Health database.
Elective surgery and specialist outpatient activity data sourced from SATR is published regularly through the Queensland Health Hospital Performance website and through state and national publications and websites.
SENSITIVE
Data from SATR is accessed through the Queensland Health Enterprise Reporting Service (QHERS) and through the Decision Support System (DSS).
Access to data available in SATR can be requested through the Hospital Access Analysis Team in the HIU by emailing HAAT@health.qld.gov.au.

Data is extracted from the following hospital information systems into SATR:

EDC
- Enterprise Emergency Department Information System (EDIS)
- Cerner FirstNet
- Mater specific instance of EDIS

ESDC
- Hospital Based Corporate Information System-Elective Admissions Module (HBCIS-EAM)
- Mater IPM

GIEDC
- Hospital Based Corporate Information System-Elective Admissions Module (HBCIS-EAM)
- Endoscopy Services Information System Solution Toolbox (ESISS Toolbox)
- Cerner Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) (in combination with Toolbox, but expected to be able to act as standalone GIE waitlisting pending an iEMR enhancement)

SODC
- HBCIS Appointment Scheduling System (APP)
- Cerner Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM)
- Mater IPM
Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) use the data in SATR to manage elective surgery and specialist outpatient waiting lists, and monitor activity and performance.

The Department of Health uses the data in SATR as described in the ESDC, the SODC, and the Queensland Health Non-Admitted Patient Data Collection (QHNAPDC).

Commonwealth reporting requirements for National Minimum Data Sets are identified by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

The data from SATR is reported on the Queensland Health Hospital Performance website to provide transparency of health service activity and performance to the public.
