Code 01 Identifies patients undergoing the awaited procedure whilst admitted for another reason

Code 02 Identifies patients who are admitted ahead of their normal position in the queue because the condition requiring treatment deteriorated whilst waiting. Admission as an emergency patient could also be due to other causes such as inappropriate urgency rating, delays in the system or unpredicted biological variation

Code 04 Identifies rare instances where patients are admitted and already have received treatment for the awaited procedure. These patients are admitted on the date that was originally planned when they were placed on the list, but after admission it revealed that the treatment was already performed elsewhere

Code 05 Provides an indication of the amount of clerical audit of the waiting lists

Code 06 Identifies patients who are transferred to another hospital's waiting list
