Collection and Usage Attributes
Geographic area/health service cluster is based on gazetted Health Service Districts for public sector hospital or public health service facilities, but allocated to all public and private health service facilities.

Primarily, the codes represent geographic areas of Queensland that provide health services to the community. In some instances the area is geographically large (e.g. code 51 Cairns and Hinterland), however, in other instances the area is limited to a specific hospital (e.g. code 75 Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital).

Exception to geographic area:
Health service cluster is a group of 'like' health services that are not geographically aligned (e.g. code 76 Royal Children's Hospital which is assigned to children's health service facilities regardless of location; code 67 Mater Public Hospitals which is assigned to Mater hospitals that are funded for public activity).

Exclusion:
Facilities created for administrative purposes (e.g. corporate facilities, interstate facilities) are not allocated a geographic area/health service cluster.
Corporate Reference Data System (CRDS) Facility data set: May be blank.
Corporate Reference Data System (CRDS) Facility data set:
Geographic area/health service cluster is termed 'subunit'.
Approved through information management governance 16/09/2015.
