Collection Methods
Queensland Perinatal Data Collection (QPDC):
Upon load, all perinatal morbidity codes in the data from hospitals is automatically assigned code HOSP as the data source. All other data source codes are assigned by QPDC staff during data maintenance activities that result in amended or additional morbidity codes.
Example 1
QPDC receives two conflicting pregnancy complication codes (i.e. anti-partum haemorrhage specified code and anti-partum haemorrhage unspecified code), each have data source code HOSP automatically assigned. QPDC staff send a report to the hospital advising of the error and request clarification, i.e. which code is valid. The hospital advises which code is correct. QPDC staff delete the incorrect code and assign data source code VART (Validation Report) to the remaining code.
Example 2
For perinatal deaths, congenital abnormalities are often not identified until autopsy, so the morbidity data from a hospital is unlikely to include this condition. In this scenario, the morbidity code is added by QPDC staff who assign data source code PMRT (Post Mortem Report).
Comments
