Guide for Use
The number of days is calculated by subtracting the Outpatient clinic service request-receipt date from the Census date. The waiting time calculation includes weekends and public holidays.
The calculation excludes any days the patient was waiting with a less urgent clinical urgency category (excluding supplementary codes), any days the outpatient clinic service was awaiting further information from the requesting service, as well as any days the patient was not ready for care.
In cases where the clinical urgency category is upgraded the waiting time count is restarted from the recategorised date. For example, when a clinical urgency category code is upgraded from a category 3 to a category 1, the waiting time count starts from the date the clinical urgency category code was changed to a category 1.
New
Verification Rules
The number of days cannot be a negative number.
Collection Methods
Comments
The census date would normally fall on a quarterly census reporting date, although at times ad hoc reports may be generated.
