Collection and Usage Attributes
Standard unit codes were developed due to a need to more readily analyse treating doctor unit/specialty information across all hospitals.

In public hospitals, standard unit codes are mappable from 'treating doctor' units. The mapping is done on a 'best fit' by the hospital, i.e. that unit that best reflects the hospital unit's activity.

Standard unit codes in the range PYAA to PYZZ can only be used by facilities with designated psychiatric units. Note that mental health groups for the young are not mutually exclusive, even at a national level. These groups are:
Child: 0-18 years.
Adolescent: 14-18 years (this is a Queensland-specific model of service).
Young persons: 16-24 years.
Queensland Hospital Admitted Patient Data Collection (QHAPDC):
Transmit as left adjusted.
Queensland Hospital Admitted Patient Data Collection (QHAPDC):
QHAPDC receive every occurrence of this item, regardless of the number of changes during an admission.
