Collection and Usage Attributes
Only one referral service can be selected. If more than one referral is provided the staff member should record the referral that they believe is most important to the client on this occasion of service. If the staff member cannot decide which referral is the most important, they should record the first referral they arranged for the client.

If a referral is made during the occasion of service it must be recorded, even if the client is not picking up any equipment.

Code 10 Hepatitis service
Includes referrals for blood testing, hepatitis B vaccination and hepatitis treatment. If Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS health referrals happen simultaneously in one occasion of service, use code 10.

Code 11 HIV/AIDS service
Includes referrals for blood testing and HIV/AIDS treatment. If Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS health referrals happen simultaneously in one occasion of service, use code 10.

Code 12 Sexual health service
For referrals to a sexual health agency for hepatitis or HIV/AIDS-related services, use Code 10 Hepatitis service and Code 11 HIV/AIDS service, respectively.

Code 30 Medical service
Includes a variety of interventions, such as wound care and other treatment for injection-related injury and disease. For referrals to a medical practitioner for hepatitis or HIV/AIDS-related services, use Code 10 Hepatitis service and Code 11 HIV/AIDS service, respectively.

Code 90 Other referral service
Includes referrals (or bookings) into research or education projects.

Code 99 Missing
This code should be used where no attempt has been made to collect/record information from the client.
Must not be null.
This data element is collected on each occasion of service.
Provides information on the role of NSP in connecting clients with a range of services.
