Such services should only be counted where a clinician (doctor, nurse, or allied health professional) has spoken directly with a patient during a booked appointment, and the phone call serves as a substitute for a face-to-face contact. A booked appointment is one that is formally booked and recorded through an electronic or manual outpatient booking system.
Occasions of service are required as a measure of non-admitted patient service provision.
