Collection and Usage Attributes
Code M Mandatory
An element code is required when the attribute is assigned to a facility. For example, the Specialised unit attribute (FUNIT) requires an element code to be recorded (i.e. ICN).

Code N Not allowed
An element code is not required when the attribute is assigned to a facility. For example, the Formal facility name attribute (FNAME) does not require an element code to be recorded; only a value is recorded as free text representing the facility name.

Code O Optional
The requirement for an attribute element code is discretionary when it is attached to a facility.

Facility attributes are individual pieces of information about a facility. For example, name of the facility, whether or not it has an intensive care neonatal unit, facility type, etc. Some attributes apply to all facilities (i.e. facility name, facility type) whilst others may or may not apply to a facility (e.g. licence related attributes only apply to licenced private hospitals).

Corporate Reference Data System (CRDS) Facility data set:
Shall not be null when an attribute type is created, otherwise is blank.
If code is M (Mandatory) or O (Optional), Facility attribute (CRDS)-attribute minimum value length and Facility attribute (CRDS)-attribute maximum value length shall not be null.
