Collection and Usage Attributes
Queensland Perinatal Data Collection (QPDC):
May be null.
Must be a valid date.
Must not be in the future (i.e. past current date).
Must not be before date of birth of the mother.
For hospital births, must not be after the separation date.
Queensland Perinatal Data Collection (QPDC):
In the case of hospitals reporting this information electronically, if only month and year are known, the day is entered as 01, 15 or 28 for early, mid or late in the month. The Last menstrual period estimated indictor must be completed as an E for estimated. If the date is unknown, leave the field blank.
Date of LMP is unknown may occur in cases where there is a history of abnormal or irregular periods, or a delay of ovulation has occurred following the use of the contraceptive pill.
The first day of the LMP is required to estimate gestational age, which is a key outcome of pregnancy and an important risk factor for neonatal outcomes. Although the date of the LMP may not be known, or may sometimes be erroneous, estimation of gestational age based on clinical assessment may also be inaccurate. Both methods of assessing gestational age are required for analysis and outcomes.
