Queensland Perinatal Data Collection (QHAPDC):
Must not be blank
Must be a valid date
Must not be in the future (i.e. past current date)
Must not be before date of birth of the mother
For hospital births, must not be after the separation date.
Queensland Perinatal Data Collection (QHAPDC):
Record the full date of admission, using leading zeroes where necessary.

For planned homebirths where the baby is not admitted to a hospital, the date that the practitioner commenced birthing is to be provided.

If admitted, record the date of admission for the birth to the facility where the birth takes place, or in the case of a baby born before arrival, the date the mother presents to the hospital post birth.
Note the difference between this item and item 040008 'Episode of admitted patient care-admission date', which relates to statistical admissions (episodes of care within a hospital stay).

Some information systems restrict date storage to CCYYMMDD format e.g. Oracle systems.

This data element is used in systems/data collections that record by hospital stay, rather than by episodes of admitted patient care.
