Although referred to as a date, the census date is technically a date and time. This is relevant because a census will often be taken from a dynamic information system which may constantly change.

The specific date and time at which the census is taken is listed for each collection in the Data Collection Methods section below.

Collection Methods 
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Data Collection (GIEDC)-Waiting and Elective Surgery Data Collection (ESDC)-Waiting:
The census is 00:00:00 at the first of the month. This is the moment the clock switches from 23:59:59 at the end of the last day of the month to 00:00:00 at the start of the first day of the month. Patients added to the waiting list throughout the first day of the month, after 00:00:00 at the start the day, are therefore not included as waiting at the census date.
